Ruth Fox Sorge, 99, of Amherst, passed away at Gables Lodge on Sunday, November 27, 2016.  Born May 16, 1917, Ruth was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Fox) Kinney of Fosterville, NB, and the widow of the late Albert G. Sorge of Amherst.

Upon her arrival in Amherst, Ruth was employed with Canada Car and then helped her husband in their grocery store for a period of time.  Before her retirement, Ruth had been a retail clerk with Sears Canada in Amherst.  

She was a member of Christ Church, the Mary Knight Circle, a life member of the Amherst Lioness Club, and a strong member of the Liberal Party.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Ruth will be sadly missed by her daughter Vicki (Jerry) Randall, Amherst; grandchildren, Michael (Kim), Moncton and Kristina (Shane), Dieppe; great grandchildren, Benjamin, Emma and Brady; a sister-in-law, Barbara Kinney as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Albert Sorge, and her brothers,  Austin and Max.

Arrangements are under the care of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777) from where a time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 6-9 pm.  A funeral service for Ruth will take place from Christ Church, Amherst on Thursday at 2 pm.  Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Christ Church, VON, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of the Donor's Choice.
