It is with deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of George "Geordie" William Rector, age 72, of River Hebert, NS. Geordie passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Born in River Hebert East, NS, he was a son of the late Ernest and Carrie (Briggs) Rector. 

Everyone who knew Geordie witnessed his love for Donna, his children and especially his grandchildren. His home was always open to anyone who dropped by. He had a way of making all those who knew him feel important and was eager to help in any way he could.  Geordie loved fishing, hunting and farming and curling.  He was a dedicated volunteer at the River Hebert Fire Department for more than 44 years as both a fire fighter and fire chief.     

He is survived by his children Renee (Kenny) Lusby, Amherst, NS, Michelle (Neal) MacDonald, Grand Prairie, AB, and Amanda (John) Canning, River Hebert East, and Blaine McIver, River Hebert East, NS; 5 grandchildren, Danial MacDonald, Carter Lusby, Autumn Canning, Emma Canning, Kenzie MacDonald and Emilie Leblanc.  Geordie is survived by his siblings Gornall Rector, River Hebert, NS, Sylvia (John) Burbine, Riverview, NB, Judy Rector, Amherst, NS, Mike (Shelly) Rector, Amherst, NS, Karen (Dave) Dobson, NB, Stephen (Lynn) Rector, Grand Manan, NB, Troy (Chrissy) Rector, Riverview, NB and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Donna.

Geordie’s celebration of life will begin at a grave side service at the St Denis Cemetery in Minudie, Wednesday June 26, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Following the burial, family and friends are welcome back to Geordie’s home to reminisce about all the great memories he has been part of.

Donations in Geordie's memory may be given to a charity of choice.
