Hamilton, ON: Greta M. Hall, age 90, of Idlewylde Manor, formerly of River Hebert, NS, passed away at the Henderson Hospital in Hamilton, ON on Monday, March 12, 2007.

Born in River Hebert East, she was a daughter of the late Oscar D. and Christie A. (McAloney) Purdy.

She will be sadly missed by her sons Kevin (Mary), Burlington, ON, Maurice, Brantford ON, Byron (Corinne), Hamilton, ON, and William (Patti) of River Hebert, a daughter Ruth (William) White, Brantford, ON, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas E. Hall in 1989, a son Thomas E., a sister Stella Carmichael and brothers Guy, Sidney, Orval, Basil and Maurice.

Greta was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in River Hebert and Grimsby. She worked at the Metropolitan stores in Sidney and Amherst. After the age of 50, Greta went back to school and then worked for the Fort Cumberland Hotel. After she retired she enjoyed her days with cards, knitting and family. Many patients of the Juravanski Cancer Centre enjoyed afghans made from her knitted "squares"

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, Amherst, (902-667-8777). Visitation will take place on Friday from 7 to 9 pm at the Furlong~Jones Chapel, 66 Church St, Amherst, where the funeral service will also take place on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 1 pm, Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Greta will be interred in the Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Special thanks to the medical team at the Henderson Emergency room and Idlewylde Manor for their care and compassion.

Greta's remarkable strength of spirit, her love of life, and sweet caring nature touched everyone who knew her. She will live on in our hearts.
